Ch. Kanaka Durgeswara Rao

Contemporary Printmaker & Visual Artist

Born in Cherukumilli, Andhra Pradesh, in 1975, his artistic journey is deeply intertwined with the environment that surrounds him. Kanaka expresses this connection through mixed-media drawings, watercolors, and bronze sculptures. He completed his education at Andhra University, where he earned both a B.F.A. and an M.F.A., helped refine his technical skills and allowed him to explore his artistic voice more profoundly.

The essence of Kanaka’s work lies in the balance between realism and emotion. Each piece evokes a stormy, rugged atmosphere, often featuring swirling clouds, ocean waves, and dramatic fields that reflect the intensity of nature. The skies convey deep feelings, while the landscapes are dark and tumultuous, symbolizing the more challenging aspects of life. These themes transcend mere aesthetics, serving as metaphors for the complexities and harsh realities of existence. Each artwork represents an emotional journey, a means for him to engage with themes of struggle, resilience, and the unseen forces that shape our lives.
