ANIL KUMAR SIMHADRI
Contemporary Landscape Artist
Anil Kumar Simhadri (b. 1987) is an Indian artist whose practice explores the expressive potential of drawing as a means of engaging with emotion, memory, and the psychological landscape. Based in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, he works primarily with ink, embracing its immediacy and unpredictability to create layered compositions that move between figuration and abstraction.
His drawings evolve through an intuitive process in which a dense network of lines become traces of longing, vulnerability, and inner transformation. Rather than illustrating fixed narratives, his works invite contemplative encounters, allowing meaning to emerge through rhythm, gesture, and the material presence of the mark.
Trained in printmaking, Simhadri received his B.F.A. from Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, and his M.F.A. in Graphics from Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya, Khairagarh. He is a recipient of the HRD National Scholarship for Young Artists and has participated in residencies, workshops, and exhibitions across India and internationally. He lives and works in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India.
